The Flynn effect disproves the prophecy. I'd speculate the IQ of the Mayans to be 15.

Basically, people say that Nostradamus predicted the end of the world. But he also predicted the three Antichrists. Yet, the third has yet to appear. He predicted that a 27 year war will occur after the third Antichrist's death. I'm not really sure whether to believe it or not, because he predicted Napoleon, Hitler, and 9/11. However, the words and letters were sort of jumbled, so people may searched a bit too hard and came out with false theories.
Also, the Mayans didn't predict the end of the world, they only made a calendar that ended in 2012. They may have been captured by that Fransisco Pizarro (I think it was) while they were still in production on their calendar. It could also mean that the calendar is restarting.
I don't think it will end though. Why? Because it's been like: OMG 1997 WORLD ENDING, OMG Y2K WORLD ENDING, OMG 2005 GLOBAL WARMING WORLD ENDING, OMG 2008 WORLD ENDING, OMG 2012 WORLD ENDING.
I think that people will commit suicide on that day. A LOT of people.

Bah, the Mayans probably ran out of space to write on the calendar.
However, even though I don't believe in the 2012 Doomsday, I do believe the world will change on that date.
When a mod is online, why do I always get this awkward feeling that one of my topics is gonna be locked or I'm gonna be warned or banned?

You've got to be a complete fool to believe 2012. The only ways I see the world ever ending are:
1. Greenhouse gases trapping too much heat and the Earth becomes a copy of Venus, with surface temperatures up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Solar winds from the Sun's flares blowing away our atmosphere
3. Earth's magnetic field being destroyed
4. The sun blowing off it's outer layers in 4.6 billion years, engulfing the Earth in a planetary Nebula
5. The asteroid hitting the Earth in a few hundred years (idiots say it will hit in 2035)
6. ????
7. PROFIT!
